This 1979-1980 cruise book for the USS Nimitz, CVN-68 is in excellent condition. At 448 pages it contains a wealth of pictorial and general cruise information.

The USS Nimitz sailed as part of of the North Atlantic Nuclear Task Force '75 and the Nuclear Power Task Group.

As far as aerial support, Air Wing 8 is attached to Nimitz which flies 7 different types of aircraft: F14A Tomcat, A-7E Corsair II, A6E Intruder, E-6B Prowler, S-3A Viking, E-2C Hawkeye and the SH-3H Sea King

Of special interest in this cruise book is a descriptive section about the USS Nimitz was the largest prop ever used in a Hollywood film. The 1980 film "The Final Countdown" starring Kirk Douglas, Martin Sheen, Katherine Ross and Directed by Peter Douglas, was filmed aboard this cruise. The cruise book contains photos of the film in production and even one of Kirk Dogulas in the cockpit on a flight off the USS Nimitz.

Photos of the helicopters used and a description of "Operation Evening Light", the rescue attempt of the American Hostages in Iran, is included in this cruise book as well.

Ports of call on this cruise included: Rota, Spain; Naples, Italy; Islands of Capri; Alexandria, Egypt; Tunis, Tunisia; Athens, Greece; Naples and Rome, Italy.

Not only does this cruise book feature photographs of all that served on the USS Nimitz cruise but also photos of the members of the following airwings.
