This video contains the actual, uncut 8mm home movies filmed by a Cadet during his 1960 training cruise on the Tall Ship Eagle.
Very cool home movies of a young Coast Guard Cadet at sea.
The cadet who filmed this is the same officer who filmed the 1962 Cadet Cruise and the 1964 Eastwind Antarctica cruise.
This footage was filmed on both a high endurance cutter and the Eagle. Great scenes aboard the cutter including an UNREP, weapons firing, etc.
The Eagle footage includes scenes filmed from up in the rigging. Provides quite an interesting viewpoint!!
Great liberty scenes from Med ports.
It seems that during the Cadet cruises, they did half the cruise to Europe on a cutter, then home on the Eagle. A lot of footage in London.
This is a great video to show your kids and grandkids what you did as a young man in the Coast Guard!!
